The blog post introduces “system cards” that provide accessible explanations of how the algorithms rank and suggest content in various features like the Feed, Stories, and Reels. For example, the Instagram Explore feature, which showcases content from accounts users don’t follow, follows a three-step process: gathering inventory, leveraging user signals, and ranking content based on user interest.
Users can influence the algorithm by saving content to see similar posts or indicating disinterest to filter out similar content in the future.
